Our users can take on workbits on any day to gain new experiences and earn extra income at a time and place that is suitable for them. For those who are looking for a more stable job for a longer period, we also post regular job ads on our site. GoWorkaBit enables businesses who need an extra set of helping hands due to increased workload or due to employees falling ill to quickly find temporary replacement workers.
    While GoWorkaBit mainly operates in the fields of customer service and warehousing, we are certain that we have something of interest for nearly everyone.

  • What kind of work can I find here?
    GoWorkaBit offers workbits lasting anywhere from a few hours to a couple of months, which are perfect for job seekers looking to fill out their day with a bit of extra work. However, we also have advertisements for longer-term jobs.
    Most of our workbits do not require extensive training or experience, which enables us to also offer opportunities to younger people in search of their first work experiences. We know that finding a job is generally not easy, so we try to help our workbiters with the process. That is why the workbits offered on our site are from businesses, not private individuals. This allows workbiters to actually gain new experiences and expand their network of professional contacts.

  • What is a workbit?
    A workbit is a brief job. It’s a new approach to working. The workbits offered through GoWorkaBit are a novel method for getting a business’ work done, and, legally, the workbits offered in Estonia are based on the Law of Obligations Act. You could think of it as project-based work, except also for extremely simple and traditional tasks, such as putting out merchandise in a supermarket or serving breakfast at a hotel. Breaking work down into manageable little bits ensures that every job gets done.
    We have noticed that some people want more flexibility out of their work life in terms of time and place. So that they can work in a way that is compatible with the rest of their life. Hobbies, friends, family, leisure and work – time is needed for all of this. Through workbits, we enable job seekers to choose where, when and for how long they wish to work. Even daily.

  • What type of offers exactly will I find on the GWB site?
    SMALL WORKBITS are posted as covering a period of up to 10 days where job seekers can apply separately for each day. These are offered with defined working hours and a fixed hourly rate or piece rate. For these types of workbits, the company has to make their choice separately for each day by confirming the suitable applicants in our system. In other words, the job does not have to go to the same people every day. The GWB will then register the confirmed workbiters with the Tax and Customs Board, and the workbiters will get paid 14 days after the end of the workbit.

    BIG WORKBITS range from one week to a couple of months. In any case, the worker and the employer will be expected to reach a detailed agreement with regard to the work schedule. Workbiters who have been confirmed for a big workbit can still apply for small workbits or take on multibits. However, you should always be careful not to overbook yourself and let an employer down. The pay will depend on the particular project and could be a total (i.e. flat) rate for the whole workbit or a piece/hourly rate. Before the start of a big workbit, the company will choose the most suitable workbiters from among the applicants for the whole period at once. These workbiters will be registered with the Tax and Customs Board, and they will be paid 14 days after the end of the workbit.

    MULTIBITS involve a special team of workbiters for a company’s operations! To build such a team, the company must have a permanent need for helpers, whether that’s 2 or 200 helping hands each day, as there are no limits here. Only these team members will have access to the company’s work schedule and can then register for work themselves, which means that the employer avoids the daily hassle of having to confirm their workbiters for the next day – the workbiters will make their own choice! All that the company has to do is to assemble the team, which GWB will, of course, assist with! Setting up a workbit and getting it running usually takes around a couple of weeks, but the exact time investment needed will obviously depend on the nature of the job offered. What is important is to draw up a work schedule for the helpers, because only this ensures that the team remains active and no one abandons ship. If the company temporarily runs out of work and no helpers are needed, we advise that you inform the team and let them know when work might be available again :) While there is no schedule or no suitable times in a multibit, the workbiters can also take

    Our community of workbiters consists of people with varied knowledge, experience and skills. Many of them are part-time and scheduled workers, but they also include students, job seekers and various specialists and freelancers, who are highly motivated to gain new experiences and react quickly to workbit postings!
    Our pool of excellent workbiters is largest in sectors such as customer service, warehousing, accommodation and manufacturing. However, our workbiters are also highly interested in all manner of creative work, assistant roles and other exciting challenges!

    No, workbits are only intended for business clients. This is mainly because we want to our users to gain experience in working for real companies in order to help them along on their career path.
    Private individuals can currently only post job ads.

  • How can I start searching for workbiters through GoWorkaBit?
    All you need to do is go to our website, create an account for your company and set up a call for workers.
    You can choose between four services: small workbit, big workbit, multibit and job ad. Small workbits are intended for jobs lasting from anywhere between a couple of hours and a couple of weeks; big workbits for a couple of months; multibits for addressing a constant need for workers at fluctuating workloads; and job ads are traditional calls for employees for a fixed or indefinite term.

  • Do I have to be at least 18 years old to register?
    We also allow younger people to register, but, because of legal requirements, most companies want to hire adult workers for their workbits.
    If you are a minor and you want to work through us, you must send us a freely worded application signed digitally by one of your parents. This could be as simple as, for example:

    ‘I, Mary Miller (personal identification code), permit my child, Marsha Miller to take on workbits through GoWorkaBit.’

  • Can I also use the GoWorkaBit website without creating an account?
    You can indeed check out our site without making an account. As an unregistered user, you can freely browse the workbits offered through us, but if you want to apply for one, then you will need to create an account. Having an account is also useful because, 90% of the time, the way GoWorkaBit functions is that we notify our users when something that might suit them has turned up, instead of users having to browse our site every day to see if anything new and interesting has been posted. Thus, creating an account makes it much easier for you to find suitable workbits and saves you valuable time that you could use to, for example, work or pursue hobbies. Also, we promise not to disclose your account details to anyone. With the exception, perhaps, of companies whose workbits you have applied for.

  • What kind of responsibilities fall to employers?
    Employers’ responsibilities start with posting detailed and relevant information along with their workbit and, after suitable workbiters have applied for the job, choosing and confirming the workbiter(s) the employer wants to hire.
    Once suitable workbiters have been selected, we will take it upon ourselves to notify the remaining applicants that they were not chosen for the job and will supply the contact details of the selected workbiters to you. We recommend contacting them and reviewing the details of the workbit by phone.
    A couple of additional things to consider:
    Workbiters must be confirmed at least 24 hours before the start of the workbit (with the exception of urgent projects where the workbit is posted less than 24 hours before the start of the workbit).
    If your plans change and you no longer find yourself needing the help of our workbiters, please let us know at the earliest opportunity!
    Workbiters must be provided with a safe working environment and they must be supervised and monitored by someone from the company during the workbit.
    If the time of the workbit changes (e.g., you need help for a longer period or you need the workbiter to leave earlier), you must reach the appropriate agreement with the workbiter and record it later when confirming the volume of work.

  • What are my obligations as a registered user of GoWorkaBit?
    Registration itself does not impose any obligations on you. You will simply have the chance to get information about workbits and job ads and to earn extra income.
    Obligations only arise when you apply for a workbit. By doing so, you declare that you are prepared to commence the workbit at the time you applied for, if the company chooses to assign it to you. If you fail to show up for a workbit and to warn the employer that you can’t make it, it is very likely that you will not be hired for workbits in the future, as information about it will remain visible on your profile.

    We have established a strict set of rules for this:
    Cancelling a workbit more than 24 hours before it starts = 24-hour ban from applying.
    Cancelling a workbit less than 24 hours before it starts = 24-hour ban from applying and a negative indication on your profile.
    Three cancellations with less than 24 hours’ notice = closure of your account.
    Failure to appear for an agreed upon workbit = closure of your account.

  • How much does it cost to find a workbit?
    Using the GoWorkaBit environment is completely free of charge for workbiters.
    In fact, if you succeed in finding a workbit, you will be the one getting paid!

  • How much does it cost to find a workbiter?
    The easiest way to see the pricing of workbits is to use our price calculator, which you can find on your Dashboard or at https://goworkabit.com/hire-young-talent/better-than-recruiting-agencies.
    Hiring one workbiter for one hour costs €1.99/h in the case of hourly rates and 25% of the payroll in the case of total (flat) rates and piecework. This service fee includes finding the workbiters, registering them with the Tax and Customs Board, concluding contracts with them and paying their taxes and wages. The final invoice for a workbit will consist of the gross wages, labour taxes and the service fee and will additionally be subject to VAT.
    The average gross hourly rate in our environment is €5.6. If you want to stand out from other companies or if you need a workbiter with a more specialised set of skills, you can always increase the proportion of the workbit fee – the GoWorkaBit service fee component will not increase in conjunction with this.
    The charge for our job ad service, meanwhile, is €99 + VAT.

  • Who will pay the workbiters for completed workbits?
    For workbits, workbiters will be remunerated by GoWorkaBit. This is so that we can guarantee to all workbiters that they will get paid with 100% certainty and that all taxes are paid correctly for them.
    Where a user has answered a job ad for a position offered for an indefinite period, meanwhile, the remuneration will be paid by the employer.

  • When will I be invoiced for completed workbits?
    After completion of a workbit, both the workbiter and the company will have to report the volume of the work within 3 business days. For example, that the workbiter worked 8 hours on Monday and 5 hours on Tuesday. After we have received this information from both parties and if it matches, our system will immediately issue an invoice.
    The deadline for payment of invoices is generally 14 days.

    Posting a job ad on our site for two weeks costs EUR 99 + VAT; if you also want us to run a social media campaign for the ad, it will cost you EUR 149 + VAT.

How to get hired for a workbit

  • Where can I see all of the workbits you are offering?
    To start searching for suitable workbits, you need to go to the menu and choose WORKBITS.
    At first, the system will show you all of the offers that are currently active on our site. We have also provided several options for filtering and running searches for offers. This includes a filter for saving categories (by picking a set of categories and saving your choices, you will always be shown offers that match your preferences). In addition, you can indicate whether you are interested in working during daytime, on weekends, or in the evening. Remember to specify the location, i.e. the region and radius for which you want to see our offers! And, of course, you can choose a pay level below which you do not want to see any workbits. Besides these filters, you can also run keyword-based searches for workbits by entering, for example, a company name or job title, etc. Finally, you can choose whether you want to be shown small workbits, big workbits, multibits, or job ads :)

  • How can I apply for a workbit?
    Applying for a workbit is super easy. All you have to do is:
    create a GoWorkaBit user account for yourself;
    find a suitable workbit;
    click on ‘Apply’ next to the workbit.

    When applying for the first time, we will ask you for the following information:
    your full name;
    your personal identification code (to check whether you are permitted to work in Estonia);
    phone number (so that you can be contacted quickly if you are selected for a workbit);
    a couple of sentences describing yourself as an applicant;
    a photo of yourself (this will make you a more trustworthy applicant in the eyes of companies, as all they have to go on when choosing workers is each applicant’s online profile).

  • Can I apply for more than one job at a time?
    Yes, you can. In fact, this will increase your chances of getting hired. Note that as soon as a company confirms you for a workbit, all of your other active applications for workbits scheduled for the same period will be cancelled. This is with the exception of big workbits, where your schedule is a matter of agreement with the employer; and, of course, you can take on small workbits while you are registered for a big workbit, as long as they don’t conflict with your agreed upon schedule.

  • How can I increase my chances of getting hired for workbits?
    As companies mainly make their choices based on our users’ profiles, i.e. CVs, our first piece of advice would be to put together a compelling CV. This does not mean, of course, that it should be overflowing with information. Your CV should include the most relevant details about you. If your CV includes a photo of you, a brief description of your educational background or previous experience, a few words on your hobbies and your expectations for employers, you are already around 5 times more likely to be picked for a workbit than those users who have not completed their profile.

  • How do I create a profile? What do you mean by CV?
    On the GoWorkaBit site, your profile serves as your CV. To edit the information displayed in your CV, click on your name in the upper-right corner of the page and, from the menu that opens, choose MY CV. Here you can change your photo, your contact details and your description. After making changes to any of this, remember to save your CV by clicking on ‘Save profile’. In your CV, you can also indicate your legal information, as well as request for exemption from income tax and indicate the corresponding amount.

  • Who can see my CV?
    Your CV will not be publicly visible. Only companies whose offers you apply for will be able to see your description, age and photo. If you are selected for a workbit, the employer will also see your phone number and e-mail address. Your address, personal identification code and bank account details are necessary for wage transfers and registration as a workbiter and will only be visible to the GoWorkaBit team.

  • Do I need a photo to apply?
    A photo is required to apply on GoWorkaBit. A photo is a great addition to your self-description and increases your chances of getting hired for a workbit by severalfold. We have found that companies want to ‘meet’ their potential workers before making a choice, since face-to-face interviews are extremely rare for short workbits. Natural and joyful photos work well on our site – there is no need to do a fancy photo shoot at a studio. Just be yourself and avoid the common faux pas in the vein of ‘Me partying the house down at a club’ or ‘Sensual toilet selfie’! :)

  • Why can’t I upload my CV from my computer / link to it from ...?
    The companies who post offers on our site are not looking for detailed, long-winded resumes. They are usually in urgent need of capable helpers, so their main concern is whether you are a good fit for the particular workbit. To save both you and the employers valuable time, we have decided to forgo the option of preparing or uploading a conventional CV – frankly, no one just has the time for that. So simply think about what is most important and what stands out about you as a person, your education, your previous experience and your skills. And then summarise it all in a few sentences. While you are free to enter a few links in your self-description, we cannot guarantee that companies will actually click on them.

  • Do I need a letter of motivation?
    When applying for a workbit, you can leave messages for the employers – this could function as your letter of motivation. While we certainly recommend taking advantage of this, you are in no way required to do this. Employers will be able to read your messages before they see your profile! Just remember to avoid clichés and stick to a brief description of why you are a good fit for the workbit and why you are interested in applying. The rest will be there for the employer to find out from your CV. Our best tip is to remain polite and positive! :)

  • I can’t apply for workbits – why?
    If you can’t apply, there are several possible reasons for this. First of all, you may have cancelled a workbit where the company had already selected you. Each cancellation incurs a 24-hour ban from applying. Another reason may be that you have failed to provide us with proof that you are allowed to work in Estonia, or you have not completed your CV and applying with an incomplete CV is not permitted. To edit your profile and work permits, choose MY CV from the menu and add the required information until your CV is 100% complete.

  • What happens if I have been confirmed for a workbit but I then find a better offer?
    If you cancel any of your confirmed workbits, then, in addition to the restriction on applying, you will be prevented from applying for other workbits scheduled for the same dates as the cancelled workbit. Otherwise it might cause a lot of confusion for companies, as well as leave an excessive number of senseless cancellations in your CV.

  • Can I still take on workbits through GoWorkaBit if I am registered as unemployed?
    Yes, you can. As of 1 September 2020, anyone who is registered as unemployed is also permitted to perform temporary work while searching for a more permanent job without running the risk of their registration as unemployed being cancelled due to such work. In such a case, you may work up to 8 days per month (this means that you may either conclude a single contract for a period of 8 days each month or eight contracts for 1 day – the law sets no restrictions with regard to this. This kind of daily employment may in some cases involve eight hours of work per day and in other cases just three hours). Altogether, you may earn up to 261.60 euros gross per month.

  • Why do I have to give you my personal identification code?
    Under Estonian law, as of 1 July 2014, all workbiters working through GWB have to be registered with the Estonian Tax and Customs Board, for which we need your personal identification code and name. Don’t worry – your personal identification code will not be made public and will only be visible to the GWB team.

After applying for a workbit

  • I applied for a workbit – what happens next?
    Your interest in the workbit will immediately be reported to the company whose workbit you applied for. Usually, companies get more applicants than there are vacancies, and make their choice based on the information provided in the applicants’ profiles or previous reviews. Once the company has made their choice, you will receive an e-mail or SMS notifying you whether you were picked for the job or not. To view and edit your notifications, click on your name and select ‘MY PREFERENCES’.

  • How will I know if I have been selected for a workbit?
    If a company decides in your favour, you will be notified by both e-mail and SMS. As such, it is vital to provide valid contact details in your profile. If you are not picked, you will still be notified of the fact by e-mail. You can view the statuses of your applications on your ‘Workbiter’s Dashboard’ after logging into the GWB environment.

  • How soon will I find out if I have been selected for a workbit?
    How quickly you will be notified of confirmation/rejection depends on the particulars of the offer. In the case of a workbit that starts on the day of posting of the advert, the company will generally make their choice a couple of hours before the start of the workbit. Occasionally, there are some especially urgent offers where help is needed within just a few hours – in such a case you may receive an answer within just minutes of applying. In the case of a workbit that starts one day after the advert is posted or later, you can generally expect an answer 12–24 hours before the start of the workbit. For more complex workbits, the employer is likely to answer faster still. We regularly remind employers to be considerate with their wonderful helpers and make their choices at a reasonable time!

If you are unable to attend a workbit

  • What happens if I find myself unable to attend a workbit?
    If you have been picked to do a workbit, but you are, for whatever reason, unable to attend, the first thing you should do is cancel the workbit on your Workbiter’s Dashboard, so that other users could apply in your place. After you have done this, you can let the company know that something came up. You will find their contact details in the confirmation letter :)

  • What happens if I don’t cancel my appointment on GoWorkaBit?
    If you do not cancel and then fail to show up for the workbit, our system will block your user account and you will no longer be able to apply for workbits. If this happens, please always let us know.

  • What happens if I cancel a workbit less than 24 hours before it starts?
    Such a late rejection will put the company in a very difficult position, and they will generally be quite upset with GoWorkaBit. In addition, each cancellation incurs a 24-hour ban from applying. We do not take such incidents lightly, and if you have cancelled late on three occasions, we will close your account. In addition, such cancellations will show up on your CV whenever you apply for new workbits in the future, so you should always try to attend if you have applied successfully.
    Nevertheless, we do understand that sometimes things happen and you just can’t make it. In such a case, you should always contact our user support staff and explain why this happened. This will allow you to avoid having your account closed.

    While we will be sad that it happened, we will also be grateful that you have given both us and the company a little bit of time to find a replacement worker. However, such cancellations will still be visible on your CV when you apply for new workbits in the future. And, unfortunately, these cancellations too will each incur a 24-hour ban from applying.

Safety during workbits

  • What about occupational safety during workbits – what are the responsibilities of the company?
    For greater flexibility and freedom of choice, in the GoWorkaBit environment, the employment relationship between workbiters and workbit providers is established under a verbal authorisation agreement.
    At the start of each project, workbit providers are obliged to offer guidance to their workbiters, explain to them the hazards related to the job and instruct them on proper working methods. Companies that offer workbits are additionally required to ensure that the working environment is safe.

  • What are the responsibilities of workbiters with regard to occupational safety?
    Although GoWorkaBit, in co-operation with the companies that offer workbits on the platform, makes every effort to prevent possible accidents, upon noticing risks and hazards, workbiters are still obliged to assess them adequately and, if necessary, refuse to perform the workbit.
    For example, if you find a task too difficult or think there is a chance you could hurt yourself while performing it, you have the right to refuse to undertake the task until you are convinced that you can complete it safely. In any case, workbiters are also obliged to assess the risks themselves and act appropriately. For example, by not lying down to take a break behind the wheel of a tractor or by not reaching into the mechanism of a printing machine :)

After you have completed a workbit

  • What does work volume confirmation mean?
    Work volume confirmation means that you record the hours you worked in the GWB system. The company will do the same, and, based on how the information matches up, we will pay the workbiter. After the end of a workbit, you have 3 days to confirm the work volume, which you can do under the menu option ‘COMPLETED WORK’ in the ‘MY WORK HISTORY’ view. Before confirming your work volume, be sure to acquaint yourself with the company’s rules on breaks at work, that is to say whether they are included in the working time or not.
    For some workbits, it may be difficult to calculate hours, if, for example, the job constitutes piecework or a longer project – if this is the case, we will let you know, and instead of hours you will have to report the number of finished pieces or the gross wages earned.

  • What should I do if I’m not sure how long my workbit lasted?
    If you’re not sure what to report, you should first ask the company and try to come to an agreement regarding the volume of work. You may also always contact our user support team to get information about the company and find a suitable solution.

  • What happens if a company I did a workbit for is not willing to acknowledge my extra hours?
    To avoid confusion later, you should always come to an agreement with the company on any extra hours in advance. Without such an agreement, the company might not notice or realise that you are working extra hours and may thus refuse to pay you for them.
    If, however, a company refuses to confirm any agreed upon extra hours, please contact user support. You are welcome to talk to us before you start working any extra hours, so that we can advise you.

  • What should I do if I accidentally reported my work volume incorrectly?
    If you’ve entered and saved any incorrect information when confirming your work volume, you will not be able to edit it yourself. But don’t worry – mistakes happen! Just contact our user support team as quickly as possible, tell us what happened, and we will fix it.

  • How should I record breaks?
    For each workbit, you should also record the duration of breaks and information on whether the break time is paid or not. In the case of a workbit for which a 30-minute-long unpaid break is listed, the employer will expect you to use the break time, because it is mandated by law for workers. So be attentive and find out the duration of any breaks provided for your workbit before you head off to work – that way you will avoid confusion later when confirming your hours :)

  • How quickly will I get paid?
    For big and small workbits, you will be paid within 14 days after the end of the workbit, and for multibits you will receive payment every Wednesday for the previous week.
    If you and the company have both confirmed your hours correctly, the date on which you will be paid will also show up in the list of future payments under ‘Completed work’. Know that how quickly or slowly your payment is confirmed does not affect the date on which you will be paid! :)

  • How will I receive payment for completed workbits?
    For each workbit, GoWorkaBit undertakes to pay you a net amount, from which the desired amount of income tax, funded pension payments and unemployment insurance premium have been deducted.
    This amount will be transferred by the specified date to the bank account you have indicated under MY PREFERENCES. Be sure to check whether you have entered your IBAN and the name of the IBAN account owner correctly. Otherwise, we will be unable to send you your pay.

  • Where can I see when I will be paid?
    After you have completed a workbit and both you and the company have recorded your hours in the GWB system, you will be able to see the date on which your pay is due.

    Under COMPLETED WORK, you will find the following items:

    Work in progress – workbits that are ongoing and have not yet been completed
    Completed work – workbits that have been completed and for which you can confirm your hours
    Future payments – hours that have been confirmed by both you and the company and for which you can view the amount of pay as well as the due date
    Done payments – all of the payments we have already made to you

  • How much will I get paid?
    For each workbit, we list the gross amount offered for the job. From this gross amount, we will deduct income tax (20% depending on your application), the unemployment insurance premium (1.6%) and funded pension contributions (2%) depending on which pension pillars you have joined, if any.

    Note: To request exemption from income tax, choose ‘MY CV’ from the menu and go to the bottom of the page to enter the extent of the desired income tax exemption.

  • How is pay calculated on public holidays and for night work?
    We offer our workbiters the freedom to choose when and where they work :)
    Employment relationships based on an authorisation agreement are not subject to the regulation arising from the Employment Contracts Act which obliges companies to pay double wages on public holidays and higher wages for night work than listed for our workbits.
    However, some companies do still pay twice as much on holidays as usual, and we are truly grateful to them for this :)

  • How can I obtain health insurance (from the Estonian Health Insurance Fund) when working through GoWorkaBit?
    In order to qualify for health insurance from the Health Insurance Fund when doing workbits, you have to make at least 584 euros gross per month in 2022 (due to the minimum social tax rate of 192.72 euros per month) and this amount has to reach your bank account within the same month. Insurance arises after submission of a tax return (due on the 10th day of each month) and expires if, on the next due date for tax returns, the minimum social tax liability has not been reached.

  • What is a multibit?
    A multibit is a workbit with a steady schedule. Multibits can only be undertaken by a specific team of workbiters assembled by the company. Only members of this team can register for shifts in the schedule to aid the company. Companies expect the members of their multibit teams to help them out regularly, whether that is once a week or 5 days a week.

  • How can I apply for multibits?
    To see all of the multibits currently on offer, choose WORKBITS from the menu and then select MULTIBIT from the list of filters for multibit types at the top of the page. This will show you all of the current active offers from companies looking for members for a multibit team.

  • How will I know if I have been selected for a multibit team?
    If a company chooses you for a multibit, you will receive an e-mail congratulating you on having been picked for the team.

  • The system says that a company has left me a private message, but where can I read it?
    If a company has written you a message, you should go to your Workbiter’s Dashboard and click on the name of the multibit. This will take you to a detailed view of the multibit advert. At the bottom of this page, you will see the comments section, next to which is a private chat option for contacting the multibit provider. Any messages you write through this private chat will only be visible to you and the company! :)

  • How can I register for work once I have been picked for a team?
    You can view the free schedule for each multibit in the calendar on your Workbiter’s Dashboard. From this calendar, you should choose a suitable time by clicking on it, after which the system will ask you if you are sure you want to work those hours. If you are sure, confirm your choice.

  • How will I be paid for multibits?
    For multibits, you will receive payment once a week, usually on Wednesdays. These weekly payments are made for the days worked in the previous week. Note, however, that we cannot pay you until both you and the company have properly recorded your hours.

  • I am on a multibit team, but I am unable to help the company for the next two months. Do I have to leave the team?
    If you can came to an agreement with the company, you do not have to leave the team. Ideally, you should inform the company of what’s going on and when you will be available again. The most important thing is to let the company know that you definitely want to stay on the team and that your unavailability is only temporary.

  • How will I know if a new schedule has been published for my multibit?
    Whenever a company publishes a new schedule, the system will notify each team member of this by SMS. After receiving the SMS, you may want to act quickly to register for any suitable dates, as other members of the team will also be waiting for the schedule :)

  • What should I do if I cannot show up for a multibit tomorrow, but I still want to be on the team?
    Don’t worry, everyone has something unexpected happen to them from time to time. What is important is to quickly cancel the date in the calendar, so that other members of the team could substitute for you. To do this, go to your Workbiter’s Dashboard and in the calendar click on the scheduled time you need to cancel, then click on the option for indicating that you can’t attend. And remember to confirm your choice :)

  • What if I no longer want to participate in a multibit?
    You can leave multibits at any time: all you have to do is go to your Workbiter’s Dashboard, locate the multibit in your list of workbits, then click on the red warning sign icon next to the name of the multibit. The system will then ask you if you are sure you want to leave the team – if you are, confirm your choice.

Important advice for workbiters

  • Only apply for a workbit if you are 100% certain that you can be there.
    This is because if you get picked but are unable to show, you will deprive other GoWorkaBit users of the opportunity. Not only that, you will cause a lot of trouble for the company providing the workbit, as they will have to find a replacement worker at very short notice.

  • Read the description of the workbit carefully.
    Make sure that you meet all of the requirements that the company has indicated in the description.
    For example, that you have a valid medical certificate, driver’s licence or a specific skill that is needed to perform the job. Otherwise, you may just be sent back home, leaving the work unfinished and you unpaid.

  • After applying, the provider of the workbit will let you know whether you have been selected for the job.
    The company will make their choice based on the information provided in the applicants’ profiles as well as their previous reviews. After the company has come to a decision, you will receive an e-mail or SMS notifying you whether you were picked for the job or not.
    If, for some unexpected reason, you are unable to show up for a workbit, be sure to let the company know by cancelling your application (by going to the ‘DASHBOARD’ view and clicking on ‘Cancel’ next to the workbit). This way the company will have at least a slight chance to find someone to take your place.

  • Confirmed for a workbit that you cannot attend?
    If this happens, the first thing you should do is let the company know! Remember that whenever a company has selected you for a workbit and you have to cancel, it will leave a mark on your profile. In addition, you will be blocked from applying for new workbits for the next 24 hours.
    Thereafter, every time you apply for new workbits, the employers will see that you have, for some reason, bailed on a previous employer after having been confirmed for a job. So try not to let this happen, if you want to keep your chances of getting hired for a workbit as high as possible. When the number of occasions on which you have cancelled less than 24 hours before the workbit was scheduled to start reaches three, you will no longer be able to look for workbits through GoWorkaBit.

  • What if after racking up two late cancellations you have fallen ill and are again unable to show up for a workbit?
    In such a case you should cancel your workbit as soon as possible by going to the ‘DASHBOARD’ view, as showing up for work while ill will probably make you feel even sicker and you might infect co-workers/customers. If you are worried about your account being closed, please write to our customer support at support@goworkabit.com or via the chat window in the bottom-right corner of our site. We will figure something out!

  • What if you fail to show up for a workbit without notifying the company?
    This is about the worst thing you could do. First of all, it will mean that you have deprived others of the opportunity to do the workbit, plus the company will be unable to get the work done and everyone involved will be annoyed and put in a difficult position. If this happens, we will bar you from applying for new workbits through GoWorkaBit, which means you will have to find a new channel through which to find work.

Notifications about new workbits

  • Why are you sending me messages about workbits that are completely irrelevant to me in terms of place and content?
    All of our users can set up personalised filters for workbits. Simply select ‘Workbits’ from the menu, then look at the right side of the page where you will find filters for categories, duration, location and pay. Our system will send you offers for workbits based on the choices you have made in these filters.
    However, if you have indicated under ‘MY PREFERENCES’ that you want to receive our daily summary, then this can indeed include all kinds of offers. If you no longer want to be sent daily summaries, you can change the settings to only receive relevant offers.

  • What should I do if your messages aren’t getting through to my inbox?
    If you have consented to receive notifications (under MY PREFERENCES) about new offers or are waiting for confirmation from a workbit provider, but you are not seeing any e-mails, there are a couple of things you could try. First, check your junk mail and offer folders – sometimes our e-mails can end up there. To avoid this, you can simply add our e-mail addresses to your list of friends or important/trusted contacts – whichever your e-mail application uses. If you are sure that you are still not receiving any messages, please contact our user support!

  • How can I invite my friends to join GoWorkaBit and take on workbits?
    If you want to send an invitation to a friend so that they too can work through GoWorkaBit, proceed as follows: Find and click on the ‘Invite friends’ link in the menu or next to a job offer, then, on the invitation page, enter your friend’s e-mail address and we will send them a notification that you have invited them to become a user of GoWorkaBit. If you want, you can also share the invitation link on social media or just send it to someone by copying the link.

  • How can I post a workbit?
    To post a workbit, log in to your account at www.goworkabit.ee. 
To enter a new workbit , click on ‘Add a new workbit’.
    Alternatively, you can duplicate previous workbits and ads by going to ‘My workbits’. In the window that opens, fill out the workbit form, then click on ‘Save’.
    Our user support staff will review your ad as soon as possible and, if necessary, will ask you for additional information.

  • What should a workbit advert look like in the GoWorkaBit environment?
    On GoWorkaBit, you can draw up your workbit ads however you like – there is no need to follow the traditional format of ‘requirements and offer’.
    The key thing is to describe the workbit in a way that makes it sound exciting and beneficial (we have also listed some tips next to the description field – click on ‘What should be in the description’). Once you have done this, list any essential requirements for workers (e.g., medical certificate or language skills).
    As you need someone to get the workbit done, you should always describe what kind of tasks you need help with, what the outcome needs to be and what kind of experience and value the workbiter will get out of the job.

  • What is the difference between hourly rates, piece rates and total rates?
    An hourly rate is a fixed fee paid for every hour of work. A piece rate, meanwhile, means that the workbiter gets paid based on how many pieces of something they finish. Finally, a total rate is a single (flat) fee paid for the whole of a big workbit (whether the workbit lasts for an hour or a month).
    If you know exactly what the rate for one hour is before you post the workbit, choose the hourly rate option. If the job involves piecework (e.g., labelling items or making sales calls), choose the piece rate option and enter the expected number of pieces per hour. If the pay for the workbit depends on the result while the time it takes to complete the job is not as important (e.g., you need to have 5 pages of text translated), choose a flat rate as the type of payment.

  • How much should I pay my workbiters?
    In the GWB portal, the minimum gross hourly rate is €3.86. While rates vary between different fields, the average hourly rate on GoWorkaBit is €5.6. If your workbit requires a specialist or is physically demanding or very short and intensive, e.g., a 2–3 hour job, we recommend offering a higher rate, if possible, in order to stand out from among the competition and quickly find someone who really knows their stuff.

  • What is the difference between small workbits, big workbits, multibits and job ads?
    Small workbits are schedule-based jobs that do not require much instruction and getting accustomed to. These workbits can be posted with a schedule for up to 10 days where workbiters can apply for any shift that is suitable for them. Job openings for small workbits get filled faster than those for other types of workbits.
    Big workbits are jobs that require more experience and commitment from workbiters. For big workbits, you need to enter the start time and end time, and workbiters can only apply for the whole workbit.
    Multibits are suitable for schedule-based jobs where you know you will need help for a longer period. For a multibit, you need to assemble a team of workbiters who will register for suitable dates in the schedule. Assembling a multibit team takes a couple of weeks.
    For all workbit types, GoWorkaBit will take care of the workbiters’ contracts and registration as well as payment of their taxes and wages.
    Job ads are suitable for searching for permanent employees as well as temporary helpers. We will help to put together a comprehensive job ad that will catch the attention of potential employees and will send you the details of any applicants so that you can get in touch with them.

After you have posted a workbit

  • How quickly can I find workbiters?
    This will depend somewhat on what kind of workbiters you need and what kind of terms you are offering. For small workbits, you are likely to get applicants within the first day. Our record is 3 minutes :)
    For large workbits, it will take at least a few days before the first applicants find you, and if the workbit is particularly complex or you need a lot of helpers, it may even take more than a week. Putting together a functional multibit team can take a couple of weeks.
    If you need help fast, make sure the rate you are offering to potential workbiters is motivating.

  • Where can I see who has applied for my workbit?
    When someone applies for one of your workbits, you will receive an e-mail notification containing a brief overview of new applicants as well as a link that will take you directly to a detailed view of your applicants.
    After logging in to the GWB site, you can view any applicants by going to the relevant workbit or ad under ‘My workbits’. There you can also confirm any suitable applicants for the workbit.

  • Who will make the choice regarding workbiters who have applied?
    Companies are free to choose the most suitable and appealing applicants for their workbits as they see fit! :) This can be done in just a couple of clicks by going to ‘My workbits’ and opening the workbit you want to choose workbiters for.

  • Can I talk to workbiters and, for example, invite them for an interview before I make a choice?
    Job interviews are appropriate for highly complex or longer-term workbits. In general, for most workbits you should be able to make your choice based on the applicants’ letters of motivation and GWB profile. If you need to clarify any details, you can do so via the chat window that opens when you click on the applicant’s name.
    However, if you would like to call or meet with an applicant, you may ask our customer support team for the applicant’s details and keep us apprised of how it goes. We will not disclose any contact details of applicants unless requested.

  • How quickly do I need to make my choice?
    In order to give applicants enough time to make plans and prepare for the workbit, suitable workbiters must be selected no later than 24 hours before the start of the workbit. Of course, if you post your advert less than 24 hours before the start of the workbit, you may confirm your workbiters with shorter notice. It all depends on the workbit. :)
    Nevertheless, if you want to be sure that your workbiter can be there on time or isn’t snatched up by someone else, we do not advise making your choice at the last minute.

  • What happens if I fail to find a suitable workbiter?
    If you cannot find a suitable workbiter, you will not be charged for the workbit.
    Additionally, you may contact our user support staff for advice on what to change about the workbit to make it more attractive for workbiters.

  • Can I cancel a workbit after posting it?
    Yes, you can. If the workbit has not yet started, you will find a ‘Cancel entire workbit’ button under ‘Workbit details’. If you only need to cancel a few specific dates for a workbit, you can do this by clicking on ‘Edit workbit’ and setting the number of helpers needed for those dates to 0; if necessary, you should also cancel any previously approved workbiters.

  • What happens if one of my workbiters falls ill at the last minute or does not show up for a workbit?
    While unfortunate, it is inevitable that occasionally someone falls ill or is, for one reason or another, unable to be there for you when promised. As soon as a workbiter cancels on you, you will be notified and the workbit will be re-opened for applications automatically to find a replacement. In addition, you will have the opportunity to contact any applicants you did not choose in the first round of applications.
    If a workbiter has not shown up at the agreed upon time, we recommend that you contact them first. If, however, it is clear that you have simply been blown off, please indicate this for the workbiter by clicking on ‘Failed to show?’ This kind of behaviour is not okay, and if the workbiter did not have a good reason for failing to show, we will close their account.
    Whatever the case, feel free to contact our user support staff for help with figuring out how you can still get your workbit done quickly!

After your workbit has been completed

  • What does work volume confirmation mean?
    Work volume confirmation means that you record the hours that your workbiter worked in the GWB system. You can do this after the workbit has been completed, by going to ‘Confirm volume of completed work’. The workbiter will have to do this too. If the information submitted by both of you matches up, we will invoice you for the workbit. You will have 3 business days after the completion of the workbit to confirm the work volume.
    For workbits with a total rate or piece rate, you will need to enter the gross amount earned or the number of pieces finished for work volume confirmation.

  • How can I give feedback to workbiters?
    Once a workbiter has completed your workbit, you will be able to leave them feedback during the work volume confirmation process. You can indicate whether you would hire the workbiter again or would prefer not to, as well as leave written feedback.
    Any written comments you leave will also be made visible in the workbiter’s profile to other workbit providers whose jobs they apply for.

  • How can I reinvite good workbiters for a workbit?
    The easiest way you can do this is by clicking on ‘Invite previous workbiters for the workbit’ at the edge of the page in the workbit view after our user support team has approved your workbit.
    You can only reinvite workbiters who have received positive feedback from you.

  • What happens if a workbiter fails to complete one of my workbits?
    Workbit providers are only obliged to pay workbiters to the extent that they have completed the job. This means that if a workbiter only finishes half as much work as agreed upon, you will only have to pay them half the wages.

  • What happens if someone burns down my warehouse or steals my property?
    In such a case, you should probably contact the police, and the liability for such actions will rest with the perpetrator. In order to avoid such incidents, you should always appoint a supervisor for new workbiters. This is not only to ensure that your workbiter does not commit theft, but also primarily to assign tasks to be completed by the workbiter and to have someone available that the workbiter can turn to with questions about the workbit.

  • In which cities can I work through GoWorkaBit?
    At the moment, we offer workbits all across Estonia, with the most popular cities, with the greatest number of offers being Tallinn (Harju County) and Tartu. In smaller cities, you will find fewer offers, and what is available will also largely depend on the season, but take a look anyway so as not to miss out on possible offers.

  • What is a work permit?
    What constitutes a work permit varies across countries, but it is essentially evidence of the fact that you are an actual person and are allowed to work in the country :) Depending on national law, this could be a personal identification code or tax number.
    In Estonia, it is a personal identification code, which is why new users are required to enter one in their profile.

  • What are the responsibilities of a workbit provider?
    GoWorkaBit is a platform that brings workbit providers together with potential workbiters. Workbiters will find essential information (time, place and pay) about each workbit on the GoWorkaBit platform.
    Companies that offer workbits on the platform are obliged to fulfil basic safety requirements at the place of work as well as to provide initial training to workbiters, including safety training, and acquaint workbiters with the working environment, potential hazards, the locations of emergency exits and fire extinguishers, etc.
    The employment relationship between workbiters and workbit providers is established under a verbal authorisation agreement.

  • What are the responsibilities of a workbiter?
    As a workbiter, you are obliged to comply with any safety requirements for the workbit, act loyally and with due diligence towards the company providing the workbit, take appropriate measures to prevent damage in the event of a hazard, and inform the workbit provider of any damage caused.
    In addition, during a workbit, you are responsible for your own health and safety. If you feel that you lack the required skills or if you sense potential danger, you are both entitled and obliged to refuse the workbit.

  • How can I change my password?
    For a workbiter account, you can change your password by going to ‘My preferences’ and scrolling down to the bottom of the page, where you will see the option to change your password.
    For a company account, you can change your password by clicking on your name in the upper-right corner, choosing ‘About me’ and scrolling down to the bottom of the page.

    For a workbiter account, you can change your e-mail address under ‘Edit CV’.
    For a company account, you can change your e-mail address under ‘About me’.
    Note that after you change your e-mail address, you will need to confirm it again. You can do this by clicking the appropriate button in the message we will send to your new e-mail address.

  • How can I indicate which notifications I would like to receive?
    If you are a workbiter, you can change your notification settings under ‘My preferences’.

  • Can I have multiple accounts?
    While you can have multiple accounts, in order to apply for a workbit you will need to submit your personal identification code, which can only be done once for each code. This means that you can still only apply with one account. Additionally, you can only create one account per e-mail address.
    If you have created multiple accounts by accident, please let our customer support staff know and they will help you merge the accounts or delete any excessive ones.

  • Do I have to give you my real name and phone number?
    It is important that the details you share about yourself with companies are valid, because companies may ask to see your ID upon arrival, before they allow you to start the workbit. Additionally, if you are selected for a workbit, we would like to let you know quickly by SMS. We will not share your phone number with anyone, except, if requested, companies who have selected you for a workbit.

  • Why do you need my personal identification code?
    Your personal identification code is needed to verify that you are permitted to work and to register you as a workbiter with the Tax and Customs Board.

  • What should I do if I no longer want to be a GoWorkaBit user?
    If, for some reason, you no longer want to use the GWB environment and wish to delete your account, you can do so by going to ‘My preferences’ and, in the danger zone at the bottom of the page, clicking on the green ‘Delete my account’ button. If you don’t have any pending applications and you have never worked through us, that’s all it takes.
    If, however, you have already worked through GoWorkaBit and cannot delete your account, please contact our user support staff (just write to support@goworkabit.com or use the live chat window in the bottom-right corner of the site) – we will help you close your account so that you no longer receive notifications from us.
